ARUNACHAL CHIEF MINISTER, PEMA KHANDU ATTENDS ‘SABKA SATH SABKA VIKAS SAMMELAN’

June 16, 2017 10:01PM

Shillong, June 15: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today attended the ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas Sammelan’ for 37-Kharkutta (ST) assembly constituency as the Chief Guest held at Chibongga ME School playground, Kharkutta organized by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

Speaking at the Sammelan to mark the completion of three years of Modi government, the Chief Minister said the PM has special focus on North East region, which is visible from his statement that “India will develop only when the North Eastern states are developed”.

He said since independence, the North Eastern states have always relied on Congress but in return we have only got unemployment and poverty. But now scenario has changed and in the last three years, the region has seen tremendous change in all BJP ruled states in North East, he said.

Also the country in the last 70 years didn’t develop as per its potential under the Congress government. “Country had then gone with the wrong hand. But everything changed in 2014 when the whole nation united to vote for Narendra Modi,” he said and added that Modi has proved himself within three years.

“Demonetization was the bravest thing he could do to fight against the black money,” said Khandu.

The Chief Minister appealed the people of Kharkutta constituency to stand with BJP if they want change. “If you want change, change the government first,” he said and added that Congress has ruled enough in the state, where rich are becoming richer and poor only poorer.

He said the Congress is a party with high command culture with no democratic system, where the party workers themselves are clueless about the party programmes. “For BJP, nation comes first, party second and individual last, but in Congress -- it’s quite the opposite,” he said and appealed that if people want development then they must join with good party.

The Chief Minister said under Modi, many big changes are taking place in North East in terms of development. He said the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge that was going at snail place during Congress government has been completed within three years under the BJP government.

He said under BJP government, Chief Ministers and ministers have to work like a bureaucrat. “Every two months, we have to submit our work report and the status of all central flagships programmes,” said Khandu.

“These work culture is good because we are here to work and we must,” he said and added that because of such changed work culture, people in Arunachal have started appreciating the performance of the government.

He said under Modi government, all Union Ministers and govt of India officials are made to compulsory visit the Northeastern states in every 15 days with night stay mandatory. “Earlier, Chief Ministers had to repeatedly camp at New Delhi for every minor work; but now the central ministries are flocking the Northeast by themselves,” said Khandu and added such changed work culture is saving precious government resources.

He said Modi has always stood for corruption free government. Corruption is not tolerated in BJP party and any politicians indulging in corruption are strictly dealt with. For Modi, citizen’s welfare is his priority without being they looked through the lens of party or religion. It is after 70 years, we have got the right person to lead the country and we all must stand behind him, said Khandu.

He said today Congress party is unable to find fault with BJP, so they have come with a political conspiracy to paint BJP with the tag of anti-Christian and beef ban.

“Many BJP MLAs and frontrunner of the party in Arunachal belongs from Christian community. And nowhere the government has mentioned beef ban; it is the Supreme Court judgment that regulate slaughterhouses,” said Khandu.

The Chief Minister said he has come to Meghalaya to spread the message of Modi and appealed the people that if they want development then they must stand together with BJP party.

BJP MLA from Dudhnoi Dipok Rabha, Megahalay State BJP President Khlur Sing Lyngdoh, BJP aspirant candidate from Kharkutta Synal M Sangma and other also spoke on the occasion.
